Our Beginnings

Moon Bakery started as a small woman-owned micro-bakery in North Bennington, Vermont. Inspired by Vermont’s farms and maple traditions, we create handmade pastries that celebrate local ingredients and timeless flavor. While we began at markets and pop-ups, our passion is now shared through our online shop — bringing a little taste of Vermont to your table.

I bake moon scones in my home which was the former residence of the mid-century horror writer, Shirley Jackson. You may be familiar with some of her work such as the short story entitled, The Lottery and the book that has now become a series on Netflix, The Haunting of Hill House.​
